21st Annual Charleston Farmers Market4/3/2010 - 12/19/2010Location: Marion Square The 2010 Charleston Farmers Market will open Saturday, April 3 at 8 a.m., in Marion Square, to offer Charleston residents and visitors fresh locally grown produce and locally processed food products as well as distinctive hand wrought arts and crafts and will continue every Saturday until Dec. 19. At 10:30 a.m., April 3, Charleston City Councilman Kathleen Wilson and Ellen Dressler Moryl, Director City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs, which produces the CFM each year, will unveil the 2010 poster image, Peter Piper’s Peppers by Ginny Versteegen. After the poster unveiling, the South Carolina Broadcasters, a local bluegrass band, will offer entertainment for the entire family until 1:30 p.m. This year, the Charleston Farmers Market will organize a planning process to transition into a “Green Market.” Only a few farmers markets in the U.S. are officially recognized as “Green Markets.” This transition includes recycling and/or re-using all of the materials that are produced by the market as well as educating vendors and the public on the value of being green, including using recycled products, re-using products and composting.

Dance the night away under the stars at the Folly Beach Fishing Pier. DJ Rob Duren will spin the hottest oldies & beach music around. Food and beverages will avaliable on-site for purchase. (ID required to purchase alcohol.) Only 550 tickets will be sold for each Mixer. No refunds or exchanges. Two left feet? No problem! Breathe in the ocean breeze and enjoy your favorite beach foods and icy-cold beverages, available for purchase on-site at Locklear’s Beach City Grill & the pier gift shop. Event hours are 7:00-11:00pm (gates open at 7pm). Tickets purchased in advance are $8 for Charleston County residents and $10 for non-county residents. Tickets purchased at the gate (if available) are $10. Only 600 tickets will be sold. Advance tickets may be purchased at Charleston County parks headquarter building or online at www.ccprc.com. Restaurant Week9/8/2010 - 9/18/2010After the success of a statewide restaurant week in January 2010, Charleston will launch its own Restaurant Week this fall. The 12-day event allows diners to enjoy the city’s impressive culinary scene without overextending the wallet. A three-course meal will be $30 at fine dining restaurants and $20 at casual dining restaurants. More than 50 restaurants are expected to participate. |

Black Crowes In Concert9/10/2010 - 9/10/2010The Black Crowes will will appear in Charleston as part of their “Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys” 2010 Tour this summer. The shows are being billed as “Acoustic Hor D’oeuvres followed by an Electric Reception With The Black Crowes,” and will consist of a full hour and a half acoustic set followed by a full hour and a half electric set. In celebration of the 20th year anniversary of their 1990 debut multi platinum release “Shake Your Money Maker,” The Black Crowes will release their first ever double album of all acoustic material on August 3, 2010. |
