Wentworth Mansion Lets Visitors Become 'True Charlestonians' The historic AAA Five Diamond hotel is offering a True Charlestonian package that includes all things Southern. In addition to two nights at the Wentworth Mansion® and dinner for two at Circa 1886, the hotel's on-site AAA Four Diamond, Forbes Four Star restaurant, guests will experience a fashion consultation (complete with bow tie) at Berlin's clothing store; two tickets to Fort Sumter, where the "war of Northern aggression" began; and a carriage ride through historic downtown Charleston for a history - and "lingo" - lesson Known as one of the country's most polite cities, guests also can experience a true Southern tea in the hotel's sun porch room, and they'll get to take a little bit of Charleston home with a gift basket of Charleston goodies from Market Street Munchies, including tea, pecans and Charleston classic benne wafers.
The mansion itself was built in 1886 by wealthy cotton merchant Francis Silas Rodgers, making guests feel they stepped back in time with its hand-carved marble fireplaces, intricate woodwork and Tiffany-stained glass windows. Circa 1886 restaurant is housed inside what was once the carriage house for the Wentworth Mansion®.
"Charleston has long captivated visitors with its beauty, history and Southern charm," says Linn Lesesne, director of public relations and group sales. "We wanted to give our guests the opportunity to be more than tourists, and to really steep themselves into the lore and all it means to be a resident of Charleston. If we can get them saying 'y'all' before they leave, we'll consider it a success!"
Cost for the True Charlestonian package is $1,050 and bookings are subject to availability. For reservations, call 888-466-1886.
