Kick off your pet-friendly Charleston escape at Wentworth Mansion® with a warm Southern welcome—for both you and your pup. From sunset hors d’oeuvres and dog-friendly patio dining to scenic park strolls, boutique shopping, and leisurely brunches, this three-day itinerary offers an easy way to experience Charleston with your four-legged companion.

A Few Notes Before You Go: Many of the restaurants, parks, and attractions featured in this itinerary are within walking distance of Wentworth Mansion®. For destinations farther afield, Uber, Lyft, or Bike Taxi are convenient options. We also recommend making dinner reservations in advance, particularly during weekends and Charleston’s busiest seasons.

Day 1

Friday

  • Welcome to Charleston! Check-in is at 4:00 pm, but you’re welcome to drop your bags early and start exploring the charm of the ‘Holy City’—and  your pup will be treated to a warm welcome of their own with treats waiting upon arrival!
  • Stroll Wentworth Mansion’s beautiful grounds, then get settled in your luxurious room. Be sure to rehydrate with a complimentary bottle of water or soft drink.
  • Grab a glass of wine and some hors d’oeuvres from Circa 1886 on the Sunporch at 5:00 pm, before heading out to meet your pup on our expansive patio
  • After a relaxing afternoon, head to Leon’s Fine Poultry & Oysters for the first dinner of your getaway. A former auto body shop turned Charleston staple, this spot delivers crave-worthy fried chicken, fresh oysters, and frozen G&Ts. Best of all, their spacious patio welcomes four-legged companions, making it an easy first dinner together in Charleston.
  • Head back to Wentworth Mansion for a glass of sherry, brandy, or port before retiring to your beautifully appointed room.

Day 2

Saturday

  • Snooze the morning away before heading to a delicious brunch at Daps Breakfast & Imbibe. A cozy, pet-friendly favorite, Daps serves up a relaxed, locally loved brunch with creative plates, sunny seating, and a side of Charleston charm.
  • Make your way to Hampton Park, one of Charleston’s largest green spaces, known for its vibrant floral displays, historic rose collection, and spacious, shaded dog run.
  • Head to the hustle and bustle of King Street for shopping and people watching galore. As you explore, look for dog-friendly stickers in storefront windows welcoming four-legged shoppers. We recommend beelining to Woof Gang Bakery for their wide selection of pet treats and stylish accessories.
  • After a relaxing few hours back at Wentworth Mansion®, it’s time for dinner at Le Farfalle. This neighborhood osteria serves up delicious bites and great vibes. Leashed pups are welcome to relax with you at one of the 12 outdoor tables on the patio.
  • End the night with a stroll under flickering lanterns as you make your way back to Wentworth Mansion® for the last night of your pet-friendly getaway.

Day 3

Sunday

  • Have a relaxing breakfast delivered from Circa 1886 directly to your room as you and your pooch prepare for the travel day ahead.
  • Just steps from your door, take a stroll down the block and enjoy a lap around Colonial Lake—a beloved local spot perfect for morning walks or simply soaking in the charm of Charleston’s historic landscape.
  • Check out by noon but leave your bags if you don’t need to rush to the airport and continue to explore Charleston!
